About the Book
Have you received the revelation of ‘Who You Are In Christ’? It was this question, along with a similar one, "Who did God create me to be", that ignited a desire in me to understand what spirit, soul, and body, was all about and how it worked in my life. This started me on a quest that was led by the Holy Spirit trying to learn who God is, His character, His attributes, His love, His sovereignty, to name a few. This is still a work in progress. Then during some of my quiet times with the Lord, He gave me a visual revelation of spirit, soul and body, that brought it all together for me. It was like turning on a bright overhead light in a dark room instead of trying to see the room with a weak flashlight.
Being a person who learns better through visualization, God gave me a visual revelation of spirit, soul, and body. You will see numerous diagrams in the book that will help you understand this topic. This book contains that revelation and I believe it can help you better understand the topic of spirit, soul, and body, and help you see who God created you to be.
If you find the black and white diagrams in the book hard to see or understand the color versions below may help. I pray that as you read this book, your love for God, and others, may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight.
Book Foreword
Becoming a mature Christian is not an immediate process–it is a journey, much like life with its ups and downs, with its trials and tribulations, with its rewards and what we might perceive as punishments. This book is about that journey, but more so, a journey of spiritual transformation. We cannot become a Christian and just coast the rest of our lives. We must be aware of and recognize perils and challenges as they rise to face us. God gives us the tools, embodied in our personal spirit, soul, and body, for our Christian journey, but they remain dormant unless we identify them and develop the skills to use them. Through God's grace, He will assist you, but you must request and embrace that assistance. There is no magic formula–it takes hard work and constant vigilance, but the rewards are immense. Your spiritual transformation only ends when Christ Jesus returns.
This book can assist you in your journey through Christianity and life by giving you an understanding of the interrelationship among the spirit, soul and body. Being transformed more into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ our Lord is what all Christians should be straining to achieve, and it is a lifelong journey. It is not necessarily the good deeds we do in our life that propel us forward, but who we become. The individual achievements along the journey are achieved only because of our spiritual transformation. How do we know when we complete our spiritual transformation? This book will not tell you, but through God's grace, it will open your eyes and mind to your goals. You will know when Jesus tells you, “Well done good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).
I have known John Hensel since 1986. His passions are the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, and nature photography. He has an inquisitive and intellectual mind. This document began several years ago when John sought the answer to a fundamental Christian question: Who I am in Christ? Being a visual person, John's desire was to map out the internal and external relationship of the spirit, the soul and the body on paper. I was honored when John asked me to read a draft of this document, and even more so when he asked me to write the foreword. In the beginning, my first thought was how should I read this document. Certainly not as a biblical scholar, for I am far from that, and not as a proofreader. However, I am a Christian. My choice was to read it as an average Christian reader, which made the bar achievable for me, seeking knowledge and understanding from the words herein. Much thought-provoking information is presented in this document. It was both challenging and rewarding to search my own soul as I asked myself the questions and concepts raised herein. I feel I have a much better understanding and deeper meaning of the Holy Trinity, and realized I need to be, and can be, a better Christian having done so. The many graphics helped me visualize concepts that were at times difficult for me to grasp from words alone, and all conclusions were meticulously scripture-based and cited.
I implore you to read and immerse yourself in this document.
